Journal 3: Zag

After reading the Zag article, the main concept that stuck to me was that every business carries a unique quality. Whether their unique quality is appealing, that is another story. This really helped me to pick an organization for our Re-Branding project this semester. I decided to focus on an organization that has a definite unique Zag, which was the Shadow Buddies Foundation. the Shadow Buddies Foundation provides emotional support through education regarding illness, disability, or medical treatments through little stuffed dolls. They stand for a good cause and have stated clear goals that they have/want to achieve.

Journal 2: My Creative Problem Solving Profile

My creative problem solving profile results said that i was someone who likes turning abstract ideas into solutions, and i like to get things done, which is completely correct. I am always that person that is pushing everyone to get to a solution, and i am often time the person that makes the overall decisions because others are too choosy. I would say generating and conceptualizing are areas that I struggle with and are not my favorite. I like to make a list and see my progress; so the faster that item gets crossed off that list, the sooner you'll see me smile!

Design for Change Journal Entry 1

Q: “What problem should design solve next?”
A: Some of the people in the interview had mentioned a couple concerns that i agree with. One of the speakers spoke about airport security, and how one practically has to get naked to be cleared to walk to your flight. If we could somehow come up with a faster and more effective design, or design machines and other collateral material that would make this process faster, i think many people would be a lot happier.
Also If we could come up with a way to build infrastructure without ruining the little bit of precious land that we have. I feel that as a society and community we are trying to fix things that are not broken. My question in WHY?

Slippery Hippo Water Park Commercial, check it out

For this project we had to pick an animal and represent it in 16 different ways. I chose a hippo because i thought that no one else would chose that animal in my class; and i was right. After designing the poster we had to pick 1 out of the 16 marks we designed, and advertise our imaginary company in a short commercial clip. Here is mine!
Biodiesel Commercial, check it out!

This was a branding project. We had a Guy come in the worked with a corporation called biodiesel Initiative. This companies main goal was to use vegetable oil to fuel our machines that landscape/run our campus. This guy was looking for a new logo design, which would eventually re brand the entire look of his company. We had to make letterheads, envelopes, business cards, and any other collateral material we thought was needed. We also had to create a 10-15 second commercial clip that explained our logo, well here is mine.
